Privacy & cookies.

Last updated: 22 October 2026. This notice applies to www.diegoweb.it, www.diegoweb.ch and their sub-pages (the “Website”). By continuing to browse, the visitor (“you”, the “User”) acknowledges having read and understood it in its entirety. If you do not agree, the simplest and most effective remedy is to stop using the Website and close the browser tab.

1. Who is responsible

The data controller is Diego Bestonzo, a private individual, who operates the Website as a personal, non-commercial portfolio of photography and technology projects. Contact: the contact form on the Contact page. No data protection officer is appointed, as none is required for a personal website of this kind.

2. The nature of this Website

The Website is offered free of charge, “as is” and “as available”, for general information and personal enjoyment. It does not sell products, does not run advertising, does not create user accounts and does not knowingly profile visitors. Content is subject to change, may be incomplete, may be outdated and may occasionally reflect the author’s enthusiasm more than verifiable fact.

3. What data is processed

3.1 Technical and security data

Like every web server on Earth, the server records technical information that your device spontaneously transmits: IP address, date and time, requested page, browser and operating system identifiers, referring page and response codes. This data is used exclusively to deliver the pages, keep the Website working and protect it against abuse, attacks and automated traffic. Security systems (firewall, intrusion prevention, rate limiting and threat-intelligence lists) may automatically block addresses that behave abusively and may report clearly malicious addresses to shared abuse databases. Logs are kept for a limited time (normally no more than 90 days) unless needed longer to investigate an incident. Legal basis: legitimate interest in the security and operation of the Website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

3.2 Data you choose to send

If you use the contact form or write an e-mail, the name, e-mail address and message you provide are processed only to read and answer you, and are kept for as long as reasonably necessary for the conversation. You decide what to write: please do not include special categories of data (health, political opinions, etc.) or information about third parties. Anything you send, you send voluntarily and under your own responsibility. Legal basis: steps taken at your request and legitimate interest in replying (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).

3.3 Anti-spam protection

The contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA v3, which is loaded only when you use the form. Google may process device and interaction data to tell humans from bots, under its own privacy policy and terms. Legal basis: legitimate interest in preventing spam and abuse.

3.4 Statistics (Google Analytics 4)

To understand, in aggregate, which pages are visited, the Website uses Google Analytics 4 in “Consent Mode”, with IP-based advertising, Google signals and ad personalization disabled. Analytics is active by default from the first page you open: you can switch it off at any time with “Turn off analytics” in the banner or “Cookie settings” in the footer, after which no further analytics cookies are used and existing ones are removed where technically possible. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in understanding, in aggregate, how a personal website is used, balanced by IP-related advertising features being disabled and by your right to object at any time with one click. Google acts as processor and may transfer data to the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

3.5 Preferences stored in your browser

Your choices of theme, colour appearance and analytics consent are stored in your own browser (local storage), never on the server. They are strictly functional, do not identify you and can be deleted at any time from your browser settings.

3.6 Third-party content

Fonts may be delivered by Google Fonts. Music players (Spotify, Apple Music) and videos (YouTube, Vimeo) are loaded only when you actively start them; from that moment the respective provider receives your data and applies its own policies, over which the Website has no control. Links to external sites (LinkedIn, GitHub, blogs, services) take you to pages governed by their own owners: visiting them is your free choice.

4. Cookies at a glance

  • PHPSESSID — technical session cookie, only on the contact form and the private administration area, deleted when the browser closes. No consent required.
  • _ga, _ga_* — Google Analytics, up to 14 months, active by default, can be switched off at any time.
  • reCAPTCHA cookies (Google) — only when the contact form is used.
  • Third-party player cookies — only if you start Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube or Vimeo content.

Every modern browser allows you to view, block and delete cookies and local storage. Configuring your browser, your privacy extensions and your devices is entirely within your control and responsibility; the Website cannot know or override your browser’s settings.

5. Who receives the data

Data is not sold, rented or shared for marketing. It may be processed by the technical providers mentioned above (hosting infrastructure, Google, and the third-party players you choose to start), and disclosed to authorities where required by law or to defend legal rights.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR (Arts. 15–22) and, for Swiss visitors, the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP/nLPD), you may ask for access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing. Write to the contact form on the Contact page; to protect everyone, a reasonable proof of identity may be requested. You may also lodge a complaint with the Italian Garante per la protezione dei dati personali or the Swiss FDPIC/EDÖB.

7. Terms of use and responsibilities of the User

By using the Website you agree that, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • you use the Website, its content and any link at your own initiative, discretion and risk;
  • you are solely responsible for the device, network, browser, settings and software you use, for their security and for any cost of connection;
  • you are solely responsible for the truthfulness, lawfulness and appropriateness of anything you send, and for not sending data of third parties without a valid legal basis;
  • you are responsible for reading the privacy terms of any third-party service you choose to open, play or log into;
  • the content is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, availability, fitness for a particular purpose or freedom from errors, interruptions or malware originating from third parties;
  • the author is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damage, loss of data or loss of profit arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Website or linked sites;
  • photographs, texts and graphics are protected by copyright and may not be copied, downloaded, reproduced, scraped, used to train AI systems or redistributed without prior written permission;
  • you will not attempt to interfere with the Website, its security measures or its availability; abusive traffic may be blocked and reported automatically.

Nothing in this notice excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law (for example for wilful misconduct or gross negligence), nor any right that mandatory consumer or data protection law grants you.

8. Changes and applicable law

This notice may be updated at any time; the version published here, with its date, is the one in force, and continued use of the Website after a change means acceptance of the new version. This notice is governed by Italian law and, for visitors of the .ch domain where mandatory, by Swiss law, without prejudice to the mandatory protections of your country of residence.
